Female Doctors at Hampstead Health

Hampstead Health Family Practice understands that sometimes female patients would feel more comfortable seeing a female Doctor for particular health concerns, or for cultural reasons. Which is why it is one of our goals to have more female Doctors available to our community.

In this short article, we will introduce each of our female Doctors, so you can learn a little more about them if you need their services in the future. As an added bonus, all of our doctors Bulk Bill, and we even have an after hours female Doctor available!

Another service we offer our female patients is a Pap Smear Clinic conduct by our specially trained Nurses.

Mahliyo tumb
Dr Mahliyo Khasanova
PHDMD, FRACGP

Dr Khasanova graduated medical school in 1996. She has PhD
in Medicine and is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College
of General Practitioners.

Dr Khasanova is an antenatal shared care GP and has a special
interests in the management of chronic diseases (diabetes,
hypertension, heart and respiratory diseases), preventative
medicine, women’s and children’s health. Dr Khasanova is
fluent in English and Russian.

MBBS, GDHC

Dr Bested has an interest in all areas of General Practice,
including sexual health, Children’s health, Adolescent health,
Mental health and Family medicine.
Dr Annie KwanDr Annie Kwan
MBBS (Syd), FRACGP, Grad Dip Pal Med

Dr. Kwan obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor
of surgery (MBBS) in year 2000 from The University of Sydney.
She has a diploma in Palliative Medicine and is a Fellow
of the Royal Australasian College of General Practitioners.
Dr. Kwan has an interest in all areas of General Practice
with a special interest in integrated medicine,
holistic health, balanced lifestyle choices, women's health,
together with management of mental health and chronic illness.
She is fluent in English and Cantonese.
Amna thumbDr Amna
MBBS, FRACGP

Dr Amna has been an examiner of the Royal College of
General Practice and has completed her Fellowship in
General Practice. She combines this knowledge with an
intergrative and holistic approach to promoting good
health. She specialises in all aspects of women's health
and family planning. Dr Amna also has extensive experience
in paediatrics, men's health, travel medicine, mental health,
minor surgical procedures, Implanon insertion and removal.
DR Dayani JayakodyDr Dayani Jayakody
MBBS Dpath MD Haematology AMC


Dr Jayakody graduated in 1997 from the University of Peradenia,
Sri Lanka and completed her Internship at the Kandy Teaching
Hospital where she subsequently worked in the emergency and
anesthesia departments. Dayani's post graduate training
included a Diploma in Pathology and MD in Haematology. She has
been a junior lecturer for many years.
Dayani migrated to Australia with her family in 2008 and
has worked at Royal Prince Alfred, Royal Hobart and Queen Elizabeth
Hospitals in various departments. Prior to joining Hampstead
Health, she worked in Lyell McEwin and Modbury Hospitals.
Dr Jayakody is interested in all fields of General Practice.
She lives with her husband and 3 children and enjoys cooking
and gardening. She is fluent in Singhalese and English.

MBBS, MPH(Melb), AMCC

Dr Huma one of our female doctors with an interest in all areas
of general practice, but particularly women’s and children’s health,
as well as mental health and clinical research. She is returning
to general practice after moving to Australia.
In addition to English, she is fluent in Urdu and Punjabi.
